Introduction to Soul City Institute for Social Justice

Soul City Institute for Social Justice is a renowned organisation dedicated to creating a just world where gender minorities, including girls, women, and LGBTQIA+ individuals, can thrive. We are committed to advancing gender equity through intersectional feminism, which is at the heart of our movement building and work.

About FLAC

The Feminist Leadership and Activism Centre (FLAC) embodies our radical vision that goes beyond empowerment, focusing on intersectional feminism to ensure a just world for all. FLAC is a dynamic incubation space fostering connection, learning, and collaboration among young leaders, facilitating collective impact towards gender equity.

Scope of Work

  • Production of a 20-30 minute documentary.
  • Coverage of FLAC’s activities across nine provinces in South Africa.
  • Interviews with fellows, program leaders, and partners.
  • Documentation of in-person sessions, online workshops, and community projects.

Filming Locations

The documentary will be filmed in various locations across South Africa, encompassing about four provinces where our fellows are active.

Project Timeline

  • Submission Deadline for RFQ: 30 April 2024
  • Project Start: 6 May 2024
  • Final Delivery: 14 June 2024

Budget and Funding

Please provide a detailed quotation that includes all production costs, travel expenses, equipment rental, and post-production services. We are looking for the best value in alignment with available funding.

Submission Guidelines

Proposals and quotations should be submitted via email to procurement@soulcity.org.za by 30 April 2024 at 12:00. Include a portfolio, examples of previous documentary work, references, and a detailed budget proposal.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Experience with social justice and documentary filmmaking.
  • Quality and relevance of previous work.
  • Cost-effectiveness and value for money.
  • Ability to meet the project timeline.
