About FLAC
The Feminist Leadership and Activism Centre (FLAC) embodies our radical vision that goes beyond empowerment, focusing on intersectional feminism to ensure a just world for all. FLAC is a dynamic incubation space fostering connection, learning, and collaboration among young leaders, facilitating collective impact towards gender equity. The FLAC Magazine will serve as a platform to share the achievements, challenges, and insights from our community, showcasing the progress and impact of our program.
Scope of Work
- End-to-end management of magazine production, including design, layout, and printing.
- Development of a creative and engaging design concept that aligns with FLAC and SCI’s brand and mission.
- Layout of approximately 30 pages, including articles, interviews, and photographic content.
- Preparation of the magazine for print and digital distribution, ensuring high-quality reproduction in both formats.
Deliverables
- Complete magazine design and layout files in editable format (e.g., Adobe InDesign).
- High-resolution PDFs ready for printing.
- Digital version optimiSed for online viewing.
Project Phases
- Concept Development: Collaborate with FLAC’s editorial team to create a design concept.
- Design and Layout: Produce the full magazine layout, incorporating text, graphics, and images.
- Review and Revisions: Iterative review process to refine the magazine design.
- Finalisation and Production: Prepare final files for printing and digital distribution.
Timeline and Milestones
- Submission Deadline for RFQ: 2 May 2024
- Project Start: 10 May 2024
- Final Delivery: 21 June 2024
Budget and Funding
Bidders should provide a comprehensive quotation covering all production, design, and layout costs. Include any additional fees that may apply for revisions or unforeseen work.
Submission Guidelines
Proposals and quotations should be submitted via email to procurement@soulcity.org.za by 2 May 2024 at 12:00. Include a portfolio, examples of previous documentary work, references, and a detailed budget proposal.

- Proven experience in magazine production and design.
- Creativity and ability to translate FLAC’s vision into a compelling visual format.
- Quality and relevance of portfolio.
- Competitive pricing and value for money.
