Golden Ladies Rise Young Women's Club is one of our clubs based in Mahikeng: Montshioa; North West. The club will be having a march for HUMAN RIGHTS DAY on Saturday, 19 March 2016 focusing on RACISM and LESBIAN GAY BISEXUAL TRANSGENDER AND INTERSEX (LGBTI).
Every year thousands of young women around South Africa are tested to find out if they are a virgin – someone who has not had sex. Some respect this as a cultural practice, others find it degrading. Rise visited a Club in KwaZulu-Natal in 2014 and spoke to some of the women involved. We also asked two young women, Nomalanga and Amanda, about their experiences.
The Ngcobo-Zintombizodwa (Girls Only) Rise Young Women’s club from a rural District in the Eastern Cape has recorded a CD. The CD has a song dedicated to Rise Young Womens Clubs, their Club Coordinator, Pienaar Motabene and Soul City.
The (ATA) Achievers Take Action event hosted by Soul City Institute (SCI) for the Humble Helpers Club, held on the 3 of March at West Bank Senior Secondary School in King Williams Town, was indeed a great success. The New Beginnings Young Women’s Club held an event regarding Rape and Sexual Assault on the 26 February 2016. The event was held at Charles Morgan Primary School.
The event was a Rise Club initiated event where they did a “Back to School Presentation” of donated school shoes to vulnerable children in 2 schools – Mbongo Primary school which houses the Luthando Rise club and Babutheni Secondary school.
Eighteen learners received the Murray & Roberts Soul Buddyz Scholarships in 2010.
