The event was attended by 110 men aged between 14 and 55 years of age.
The programme was split into two sections – a plenary session and commissions. The commissions dealt with the following topics:
- Who Am I? (facilitated by Soul City’s Northern Cape Provincial Coordinator, Thabiso Mathibedi
- Gender, Sex and Sexuality (facilitated by Tshepo Phuthane from NACCW-Isibindi)
- Behaviour & Motives (facilitated by Themba Malinga from FAMSA)
Plenary session was addressed by Doctor Kantane, a private doctor involved in the MMC (Medical Male Circumcision) programme in the province, and he focused on men’s health. A general consensus after the commissions was that such programmes are required on continuous basis to help equip men with necessary skills and information, and also celebrate manhood.
